Entry #1: For The Girls: Who is Lauren
Hi I am Lauren, the person behind the screen! I am a mom, a student, a friend, a coworker and most importantly a dreamer. My entire life I knew what I wanted to do and who I was going to be. My entire world was the medical field, and as soon as I turned 18 that is where I went. I started MA school, got my degree, then my license and started the steps I needed to in hopes to get into Physician Assistance (PA) school. Right out of MA school I got hired at a urology office almost two hours from where I was currently living, it was hard and took a lot of mental compacity but it changed my life forever. Urology is not an easy specialty. It is something you either love or hate. I fell madly in love with it. I got lucky to work with amazing providers who shaped my mind into something I can never repay them for. But it was not all rainbows and sunshine.
When I got pregnant with my son, I had to take a massive step back. It truly broke my heart. The clinic gave me the spark I did not know I was missing, but taking care of my son was the most important thing to me. As my son has grown I made the decision that it was time for me to find that spark again. I started back in Urology at a different clinic, and I found a brand new type of spark. I was able to find passion again, I was able to discover new hobbies like knitting, diamond painting, and basketball. All while being heavily supported in and out of work. While my entire life revolves around two things depending on where I am at. My son or my job. I have never felt more appreciated and respected. My life is not very interesting and I wear the title of boring very proudly because for the first time in my life, I feel proud of what I am doing. While I know its not a standard hobby, falling in love with what you do, changes the way you look at the world. As Yoko Ono states "remember, each one of us has the power to change the world"

Wow Lauren, reading this reminded me of myself in the way that you described your work as a hobby because I do too! I feel like so many people nowadays hate their lives and their jobs. And to that I say, then do something about it! Too many people are too negative about the way they live and too closed minded to making sacrifices for what they aspire to be! Just know I am right beside you in the "boring" life because I am EXACTLY where I want to be! Thank you for sharing! <3
ReplyDeleteYour personality and earnest voice come through in this post - nice job. You have a larger point, falling in love with what you do/your job, but the post tends more towards the anecdotal than clearly identifying your purpose in writing. Continue to work towards that balance of casual/professional on your future entries.
